ACHILLES REPAIR
ACHILLES REPAIR
When an achilles tendon ruptures or tears it is usually recommended to undergo repair of this injury. Non-surgical options are also available and can potentially have equal results to surgical repair in certain situations. The goal of an achilles tendon repair is to restore the tendon back together to allow for normal motion and power of the ankle. There are many different techniques including open and minimally invasive procedures. The type of procedure depends on the patient and the injury.
At Dr. Chad Kennedy Orthopedic Surgery our we focus on orthopedic repair and reconstruction surgeries for the whole musculoskeletal system, from repairing complex bone fractures to decompressing damaged nerves.
Once a patient’s condition or injury has been diagnosed, we will discuss all treatment options. Depending on the severity of the condition and the patient’s individual situation, these can include medicine, rehabilitation, nonsurgical injections and procedures, immobilization, and surgery.
Orthopedic surgeries can address and correct problems that occur at birth, through injury or as a result of aging, unexpected personal injury or athletic injuries. Depending on the type of surgery, it may be performed under general or local anesthetics.
