ACL RECONSTRUCTION
ACL RECONSTRUCTION
This procedure involves reconstruction of a torn ACL in the knee. This is an arthroscopic technique and usually requires a graft, or replacement tissue. The graft is usually autologous, comes from the patient, and can include the hamstring, patella tendon, or quadriceps tendon. Other graft options are an allograft, or tissue from a donor. This type of graft can be used primarily or to augment the patient’s own tissue. ACL reconstruction is a highly successful procedure to restore mechanics and stability of the knee so the patient can return to their normal activity level.
At Dr. Chad Kennedy Orthopedic Surgery our we focus on orthopedic repair and reconstruction surgeries for the whole musculoskeletal system, from repairing complex bone fractures to decompressing damaged nerves.
Once a patient’s condition or injury has been diagnosed, we will discuss all treatment options. Depending on the severity of the condition and the patient’s individual situation, these can include medicine, rehabilitation, nonsurgical injections and procedures, immobilization, and surgery.
Orthopedic surgeries can address and correct problems that occur at birth, through injury or as a result of aging, unexpected personal injury or athletic injuries. Depending on the type of surgery, it may be performed under general or local anesthetics.
